Concord, NH – March 17, 2025 – After another successful Kids in Action run, Broken Ground School took a few moments at the end of Saturday's play to honor Mr. Phil Hoefs, who has dedicated 28 years to the Concord School District. Since starting in 1997, Mr. Hoefs has made significant contributions to the Kids In Action (KIA) program, creating incredible sets, mentoring teachers and staff, directing students, and much more.
Principal Kyle Repucci praised Mr. Hoefs for his multifaceted contributions, highlighting his role in creating sets, mentoring, and directing. Former principal Susan Lauze emphasized Mr. Hoefs' positive energy and kindness, noting his daily interactions with a smile and a friendly greeting. She also recounted the history of the KIA program and Mr. Hoefs' instrumental role in its development, including his creativity in building stages and backdrops.
Leslie Ossoff, a longtime volunteer, shared her experiences working with Mr. Hoefs on set designs. She praised his ability to bring her sketches to life, no matter how complex, and his unwavering support and good humor. Christina, a colleague, reflected on Mr. Hoefs' dedication to each show and his mentorship, even in challenging situations. She recounted instances of his commitment, including working through illness and supporting colleagues during personal milestones.
Rachel Hamilton, co-director, concluded the event by expressing gratitude for Mr. Hoefs' contributions and the lasting impact he has made on the KIA program. She emphasized the tradition of excellence he has established and the commitment to carrying it forward.
Broken Ground School is immensely grateful for Mr. Hoefs' dedication and contributions over the years. His impact on the students, staff, and the entire school community is immeasurable. Thank you, Mr. Hoefs!
