Principal's Message

Dear Broken Ground School Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to a brand-new school year! I hope your summer was filled with fun, rest, and special moments with family and friends. As we prepare to open our doors for the 2025–2026 school year, I’m filled with excitement and gratitude to begin another year of learning and growth together.

At BGS, we are proud to serve our amazing students in grades 3, 4, and 5. Our dedicated staff works hard to create welcoming classrooms, engaging lessons, and a supportive environment where every child can thrive. Whether your child is returning or joining us for the first time, we are so glad to have them as part of our school community.

This year, we’ll continue to focus on building strong relationships, fostering curiosity, and celebrating each student’s unique strengths. We look forward to partnering with you to make this a joyful and successful year for your child.

During the school year, please expect to receive a monthly newsletter from me and more specific classroom news from your child’s classroom teacher. If you have any questions about ParentSquare, please feel free to contact me directly at krepucci@sau8.org .

Each month the school newsletter will include School News, Important Dates, School Meals/Menus, and School Contact information. If you have any questions or need support, don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Here’s to a fantastic start to the school year—I can’t wait to see all the smiling faces on the first day!

Respectfully,

Kyle Repucci
Principal

SAU #8 Joined the School Breakfast Challenge

Parents, do you need more time in the morning? Did you know that BGS offers two different breakfast options? Students could eat breakfast upon arrival or get a "second chance" breakfast until 10 AM each day. Our amazing kitchen staff prepare wonderful and healthy options each day!

Breakfast is often called the most important meal of the day, and for good reason. For elementary students, eating a nutritious breakfast can significantly enhance their academic performance and overall well-being. Studies have shown that children who eat breakfast have better concentration, improved memory, and higher test scores compared to those who skip it (1). A balanced breakfast provides the essential nutrients and energy needed to start the day, helping students stay focused and engaged in their learning activities.

Moreover, breakfast plays a crucial role in maintaining students' physical health. It helps regulate blood sugar levels, which can prevent mid-morning energy crashes and mood swings
(2). By ensuring that students have a healthy breakfast, we are setting them up for success both in the classroom and beyond. Encouraging good breakfast habits at a young age can lead to lifelong healthy eating patterns, supporting their growth and development.
