BGS' 2026 Distinguished Educator

BGS Distinguished Educator 2025-2026: Ruth Christino
I am honored to nominate Ruth Christino, the Home‑to‑School Liaison at Broken Ground School, for the Distinguished Educator Award.
Ruth exemplifies what it means to be a distinguished educator through her leadership, advocacy, and deep commitment to students, families, and staff. She is a respected and trusted leader, serving on the district’s Equity Committee, our school’s Tier II Coach, and as a contributing member of our Tier I team, where her insight consistently strengthens our systems of support.
Ruth’s dedication to professional growth is evident in her desire to fully understand our new Social Emotional Learning curriculum. She proactively asked for curriculum materials from all three grade levels so she could better understand what teachers are teaching and what students are learning. This intentional effort allows her to provide meaningful, aligned support whenever needs arise and to thoughtfully integrate SEL practices into her incredibly popular Lunch Bunch groups, extending learning beyond the classroom.
Ruth goes far beyond the expectations of her role. She works with families at all hours of the day—and often into the night—because she believes strong relationships are essential to student success. She is also a vital contributor to our school food pantry, personally packing weekend food bags every Friday to ensure students return to school ready to learn.
In addition, Ruth is a powerful connector between our school and the broader community. She actively collaborates with local organizations to create opportunities for our students, including helping families access and attend summer camps that enrich learning and provide meaningful experiences beyond the school year. She also works closely with community partners to organize holiday food and gift baskets, bringing joy, stability, and dignity to many of our families during times when it matters most.
In partnership with administration, Ruth has worked closely with families to customize ParentSquare language preferences, often scheduling individual meetings so families receive communication in their preferred language. Because of her efforts, families feel informed, connected, and valued as partners in the educational process.
Through her leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to equity and belonging, Ruth Christino truly embodies the spirit of the Distinguished Educator Award. She is honest, hardworking, and a true pleasure to work with, and Broken Ground School is stronger because of her work and her heart.
Respectfully,
Kyle Repucci
Principal, Broken Ground School
