Mrs. Dodson began teaching sixth grade in 1984.  While at Broken Ground School, she also taught third grade for 9 years.  For the last 7 years, she has been the Reading Specialist supporting all three grades in literacy.

Along with reading and writing, Mrs. Dodson loves math!  She is the coordinator of the Broken Ground After-School Math Academy.  The Math Academy provides additional support to students in the area of mathematics. Our goal is to build confidence and let children have fun - while sharpening the skills they need in their classrooms.

Mrs. Dodson likes children to participate in all types of activities at school. She coaches the Krypto team, operates the school store, and edits the yearbook.  She is known to host several events throughout the year showcasing student work - including Breakfast & Books, Breakfast & iPads, and the Literacy Cafe. The Literacy Cafe opens each spring and families are treated to a delicious menu of poems, jokes, reader's theater, and songs.

"The best part of my job is to help children leave their mark on our community. Children are our future, and it is exciting to see them discover their talents and pursue their passions," she says.

Mrs. Dodson was born in Montreal, Canada and grew up in South Burlington, Vermont. She has two grown children, Caitie and Alexis, who both went to Broken Ground School!  She resides in Concord with an assortment of dogs and cats!
